Hello, my name is Martin Rolfe and I am an artist based in Reading, UK. I have been painting and sketching for over 40 years. I am inspired by family holidays, coastal scenes and biographical comic art.

My influences come from reading comics at an early age and watching TV artists during the late 80’s. At the time, a primary school teacher inspired me when we were asked to produce a small cartoon book to present to Infant school children. I went on to start journalling my holidays in cartoon form.
Learn
I’m always looking to expand on my artistic knowledge. I am an experienced watercolourist, and I have lots of experience with all water based media. I am particularly fond of working with inks and mark making with different pens.

My Youtube channel is where I share anything I have learnt. My work is regularly displayed at the Woodley and Earley Arts Group exhibitions. In 2022 my painting ‘Tenby Boats’ won an award in the SAA Artist of the Year competition.
