Patching’s 2023
My painting – The Pier, Bournemouth – is now on show at the TALP Open Patchings Exhibition. There is even a digital badge to prove it I made it into the exhibition! You can watch the video of how I created this image on my youtube channel.
Wonky Roofs and Tudor Frames
I sketched my first time with Urban Sketchers Reading in Wokingham at the weekend. I’ve driven, walked, and dined in Wokingham many times and I thought I knew the town. What surprised me was the variety of architecture and what inspired me was the wonky roof lines and the Tudor frames. The group met outsideContinue reading “Wonky Roofs and Tudor Frames”
Of alley ways
This is one of my favourite alley ways in Saundersfoot, it’s the one that leads to the first tunnel through the rocks coming out of Saundersfoot, heading to Wiseman’s bridge. It leads though to a carpark and Coppet Hall Beach. The lovely lampposts are littered along the route, which follows the path of the oldContinue reading “Of alley ways”
Painting birds
I find some subject tricky to paint convincingly, birds are one of them. I started using collage to add interest to my paintings and also to spice things up a bit! I like to work with a mess of collage and reduce it back to reveal details. Do people try to read the revealed text,Continue reading “Painting birds”
Upper Decks
Another phobia. I’ve previously said I don’t like boats, or being at sea. Probably why I’m also not keen on Open top busses. We took an open top bus from Bournemouth to Poole after we walked from Poole to Bournemouth! The bus lurched from side to side, and I had to look down at myContinue reading “Upper Decks”
Fisherman’s Cafe, Poole
Just round the corner from our Poole accommodation was the Fisherman’s Cafe. A down to earth breakfast hang-out. From the outside you would probably walk past the Fisherman’s Cafe. It was small and crowded. But the breakfasts were amazing. Traditional full English, sausages in big baps, eggs and black pudding. And a jolly menu thatContinue reading “Fisherman’s Cafe, Poole”
Top of the morning to you
My Nan loved feeding Robins. She used to have one come to the door of her cottage, wait he would wait in the morning, in the doorstep, for the crumbs from her toast. Until one morning when he impatiently flew into the kitchen. From that point on they would have their morning chats before NanContinue reading “Top of the morning to you”
Plenty of room to scooter
Cabin was the inspiration for this post. Our favourite holiday destination in Wales has a wonderfully steep hill. I have a lovely memory of Sam trundling down it on his scooter. Probably to the dissatisfaction of the local residents. And maybe why the No Scooters notice appeared the following year!
Basil, Lettuce and Tomoto
I’m very late with planting seeds this year… I’m usually very organised and will have a window sill full of tiny seedlings, poking their little leaves above the soil. But this year! haven’t even started. Even though I know supermarkets in England are running out of fresh salad! Our government suggested we should all plantContinue reading “Basil, Lettuce and Tomoto”
